To whom it may concern,
Earlier today, a massive, wild cat was running rampant outside this building. I know not if this is commonplace for this area, or if it got lost from its usual hunting grounds. You may want to consider supplying some protection for your miners, as two were unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and are now dead.
Luckily, the odd-speaking one known as 'Red' came along at just the right time and dealt with the cat before it could go after, presumably, its intended prey - the ox. The ox was clearly terrified, but I tried to calm it the best I could and have re-tied its ropes near plenty of fresh grass. I hope it is still safe by the time you find this note.
I have dragged what remains of the two miners behind this building, in the hopes of protecting them from further scavengers. I could find no unique identifiers on their persons; no unique marks nor possessions. Whoever they were, may they both now find some measure of peace.
