Healthy Habits
Start off with correct punctuation. "Quotation marks for speech" are handy indicators.
*Asterisks are often used as emotes*
Some people use a blend of quotation marks and player emotes. Some use dashes or tilde~
Once you identify your comfortable style, make sure you always stick to it for the most efficient and considered Roleplay. The faster another player can comprehend your response, the faster and more efficiently they can formulate a reply. This will make you a sought after PC to RP with, as people will find it easier to communicate with you.
A truly great character
Is not always the most powerful or the most unique. It is often the one that is played earnestly, fearlessly and interactively.
Even if you are not able to log on as regularly as you wish, or perhaps cannot level as fast as others - the forum is always open for your character's exploits outside of the persistent world.
Consider playing a character that you can relate to personally or has a particular trait or skill that you are knowledgeable in. This unique selling point may draw other PC's to you for guidance and advice.

I need something
But I'm not sure what it is. Aka: Character stagnation. Find a PC or DM that you have a rapport with or admire and ask them for advice! Be open and honest though with your own limitations and be prepared for opinions that you may not find comfortable.
"No! I know what I need."
So approach the appropriate parties, in a clear and concise manner. You need a player character played for a plot? Post in the forums. You want to join a faction? Apply via the forums / to a DM. All things are possible (if you ask politely and respect the time and effort of others!)
What if?
"I have an issue with another player" Whether in game or out, with bullying or griefing - Mystara Alternate has a policy of intervention and safe mediation. No longer will feuds play out on the forums or in tells. All players deserve to experience a safe, enjoyable and fulfilled time on this PW.
